Sunseeker Malta incorporates charter function

Sunseeker Malta managing director Edward Woods said buyers choosing to place an order in Malta would be able to take advantage of the island’s proximity to popular destinations and the reputation of the Maltese flag.

Sunseeker Malta has consolidated its brand’s local charter function within its portfolio, managing director Edward Woods has told The Times Business.

A new operation in Portomaso complements Sunseeker Malta’s long-standing base at the Grand Harbour marina in Vittoriosa and will be officially launched next month. This event will also mark the Maltese debut of Sunseeker’s 48 Portofino.

Sunseeker Malta now plans a campaign to heighten local awareness of the brand and its range of bespoke boats.

“Our charter clients include people who are seeking to buy a Sunseeker but who would want to charter first,” Mr Woods explained. “That is a sensible option for potential buyers as they decide on the specifications of their boat. Our charter portfolio also includes corporate clients who would want to hold board meetings at sea, holiday makers on day, weekend or even fortnight charters. Our boats are available for charter anywhere in the Mediterranean.” Mr Woods added Sunseeker charters, which offered a choice from a fleet of 10 boats, were also available for one-way trips to destinations such as the south of France or the Amalfi coast, or vice-versa.

Sunseeker has just launched the Manhattan 73 and Predator 115 at the London Boat Show which Mr Woods said were now available for order to Maltese buyers through Sunseeker Malta.

The local company has also undertaken an extensive marketing drive aimed to encourage international clients to view the boats in Malta without obligation. “We are also able to respond to enquiries about berthing facilities, insurance, delivery and other facilities available in Malta,” Mr Woods said. “We package to each customer and seek to offer a complete, personalised and worry-free service so that customers just take delivery of the boat, put the key in the ignition and set off. We are also able to provide skippers, stewards and crew on request.”

Mr Woods explained that buyers choosing to place an order in Malta would be able to take advantage of the island’s central location in the Mediterranean, its proximity to popular destinations, and the reputation of the Maltese flag. Competitive local berthing and servicing rates were also viewed by potential buyers as plus points.

As the trend for boat owners to spend a season in a faraway region gains popularity, Sunseeker Malta has designed a transfer service for Malta-berthed boats to be relocated to destinations such as the Caribbean.

Meanwhile, the company continues to run the ‘Sunseeker School’ with programmes leading to an RYA accreditation recognised worldwide.
