Grand Banks 42

Editors Note: As many of you faithful readers already know, while Rose and I still cruise aboard VAGARE regularly We settled in Palm Coast, FL. With VAGARE on the dock behind the house we have found heaven. Now, I am selling Palm Coast! That’s right. I encourage you to visit my real estate website at: www.flaglercoastalproperties.com. Or if your cruising down the ICW stop in. There is plenty of room on our dock for overnight guests and I’d be happy to show you around.

You have stumbled aboard VAGARE. our forty six foot Grand Banks Trawler. VAGARE is Latin and roughly translated means wander. It is also the root word for Vagrant, which our mean spirited friends say fits us.

You will find most of the content for this website in our ship’s Log. If you poke around our site we hope you’ll get a feel for what it is like drifting from harbor to harbor on a boat. We are not world sailors. If you want know what it is like to cross an ocean or visit Bora Bora you found the wrong site. Our cruising grounds are doable by boaters with average experience. We are happing coasting from Maine to the Caribbean.

We have always been boat people. But what inspired us to quit our jobs, sell our home and cruise full time? Well for one thing we hate winter. So leaving behind the cold New England winters was easy. And what better way to find a new place to live than this. Inside everyone there is a hidden desire to drop out of the daily grind. Most people do nothing about it. Fellow cruisers John and Glenda Revord say it better than we can, People find it hard to understand, we don’t need the trappings of shore life. We survive happily with the things we can bring on-board, the rest we dole out and say good riddance, we’re breaking free! We want no yard to mow, no leaves to rake. We want to wash waterlines, to put on bottom paint and to worry about our anchor holding when it storms. We love it, it loves us, we are content. LIFE IS GOOD!

Has this site gone commercial? You may notice I have begun dropping in links to Amazon.com on the pages of this website. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, the most common question people e-mail me with goes something like this: what’s a good cruising guide for blankety blank bay. Embedding the links in the website the easiest way to help people with that question. Second, while I never intended this site to revenue generator, I never expected it to become a cost center either. Because of the size of the site, and amount of traffic it generates the site costs a fair amount to maintain. The small commission I get for sending you to Amazon will be used to defray those expenses. If I make a profit I will find I will donate it to a worthy charity.
