Fairline Squadron 50

The Fleming 55 is a raised-pilothouse motor yacht designed for serious cruising. The 55’s semi-displacement hull gives it great flexibility in performance, says Fleming. The yacht has a range of 2000nm (3700km) at 8kt (15km/h), but with the standard twin Cummins QSC 500hp common rail engines, the Fleming 55 can also attain a top speed of approximately 19kt (35km/h). Maximum sustained cruising speed is around 17kt (31km/h), where its makers say the moderate deadrise provides a very comfortable ride.

Fleming Yachts claims the 55’s deep keel provides protection for the running gear and stability in following seas. Because noise and vibration contribute to fatigue, Fleming Yachts has paid special attention to producing a boat that has become the standard in the industry for its whisper-quiet, smooth ride.

The Fleming 55 was first introduced in 1986, and since that time it has benefited from a rigorous program of evolution. There have been literally hundreds of improvements made, both big and small. While its hull design remains essentially the same, today’s Fleming 55 is a thoroughly modern yacht utilising advanced technology, materials and construction methods, says Fleming.

This year sees the launch of hull number 210, which, according to Fleming, makes it one of the most successful production yachts in history.

Cobalt A25

Cobalt Boats recently launched the A25, a runabout boat born from a proprietary five-part hull moulding system a complex process that, Cobalt says, gives the boat its distinctive lines and produces extraordinary results.

The A25 sports a deployable hydraulic swim platform that extends deep into the water, creating easy entry for swimmers. The three-position backrest on the sun pad is useful at anchor or for additional seating at cruise speeds. Paired with a convertible passenger seat, the cockpit converts from a forward-facing bench for three into an aft-facing seat or sun pad, creating a large outdoor living area.

The upholstery on the A25 is hand-sewn and double-pleated. At the dash are the all-digital data-linked displays speedometer, tachometer and digital compass, plus coolant (water and air) temperature, depth, drive trim, fuel level, hour, volt, and oil pressure gauges, all of which come standard. The switch panel features backlit fibre optics, glowing at night in a soft red rather than the usual bright white.

Portside, a large lit glovebox, with drainage, offers a key lock, a 12V plug and a USB port for attaching digital accessories.

The A25 has a length overall of 7.77m (with swim platform) and a beam of 2.59m.

An optional fourth-crew cabin with feature window is also available and can be easily accessed from the cockpit.

The large saloon features panoramic windows, with power opening as an option. The galley has been positioned aft in the saloon, allowing easy access for alfresco dining in the sociable cockpit area.
