Yes i agree. It is an awesome venue for nationals. They should go back to the old way when we only fished nationals. I just know that the guys on my team and I and several other teams that I have talked to say they can’t spend that much time away from home. When the old pro tour ended in oct it gave you a little time to get ready for nationals in nov. Also what we have right now is not really a pro tour. I believe that a true pro tour consist of heads up competition in different areas. Take your top 7 out of 10 fish and that wins AOY. NO POINTS JUST POUNDS.

Regarding the rules of the SKA. I spent a little while last night reading all the rules again for the SKA. Last January, our team went to Key West and chartered a boat and happened to win the Key West tournament. The team members did all the bait catching, putting out the lines and playing the fish. The boat only provided the boat and a captain to drive the boat. Our team caught considerable heat on this web site for doing that and as a result of winning the tournament. It was simply not feasible for haul our 26 Regulator 1100 miles one way to try and fish in that tournament. In addition if you look at the stats for that Division for 2013, there were few boats under 30 feet that even participated in that Division. Our team played by the rules of the SKA and still caught major heat on this site. By the way, we have the same boat chartered for January 2014 at Key West.

The 23 Onslow Bay Boat plays by the rules of the SKA and is allowed under those rules to fish in the 23 and under class. Yet, those fishing that boat catch considerable heat on this site and other sites when they win or place well in tournaments.

Why is that?

The option our team chooses for fishing in Key West is an option open to anyone in the SKA who wishes to fish in the Key West Tournament since there is no SKA rule that prohibits that.

Onslow Bay boats which are top of the line fishing boats fall within the rules of the SKA for the 23 and under class. Yet, they are criticized for doing that.

Why is it that teams that follow the SKA rules to the letter are still criticized is beyond me.

If the SKA rules are flawed, then members of the SKA should demand changes.

But unless the SKA changes the rules, our team and those than fish the Onslow Bay 23 are in compliance and neither of us deserve to be chastised for playing by the rules!
