I have a ’68 Choey Lee. I removed the teak and recored the deck and refiberglassed. I now want to glue the old teak deak back down. The back of the teak has a black compound. I have scraped the material off (rather hard but sticky), but the wood is still impregnated with the black compound. Is this adhesive the best one for this job?

Stephen, I used the two part bonding epoxy on the steps of my 2001 54′ Ocean Alexander when I redid the teak while painting the boat last winter. It was easy to use and seems to hold tight without any problems. I must say that I do not want to be the one who has to remove it someday. Just be careful not to get it on any of the surrounding areas.

You must determine what the old Black adhesive is first My guess is that someone used a seam compound where they shouldn’t have to hold the Teak Down. I would highly recomend taking theTeak to a Cabinet Shop and have them put it through a Timesaver Sanding type machine to completely remove all the old adhesive. Then yes Teak Decking Systems is the best choice to put the Teak back down. I would be happy to do it for you but I am on Martha’s vineyard feel free to call me 508-627-8941 Tom Taylor
