Carver 27 Santego

Caryl and I have been married for quite a few years now. (stopped counting) We are the proud parents of our sons Danny and Steven, and we still have the great pleasure of having both boys living at home with us. Some day I am sure they will go, so I keep telling myself. Both Caryl and I where raised in Rockland County. My self being from Haverstraw and Caryl being raised in the Stony Point area. In 1988 we decided to move to Washingtonville N.Y. in Orange County.

With myself being from Haverstraw I have always been involved with boating and fishing on the Hudson. With my parents we had been members of such marinas as the old Ba-Mar Marina, Rockland Bergen Yacht Club and even had a boat on a mooring in Bowline before the power plant went in.

Now as far as Caryl she had been a land lover, sure she stayed and swam at the Jersey shore but she didn’t become a boater till she met me. Our first boat was a brand new 1987 Bayliner bow rider that we purchased at the Rockland Community Collage Boat Show. Now if I had only listened to Steve and Rick back then. Come the winter of 87 we ended up ordering a 1988 Chaparral 278 signature series cruiser from them. We put many an enjoyable trips on her until the summer of 2000 when we found the Carver Santego in Mystic Connecticut. She was a 1989, 30 foot Carver Santego Fly bridge. We found such a great deal that we where a 2 boat owner until we sold the Chaparral in summer of 2002.

In July of 2005 we found our current boat, the 392 aft cabin Silverton Motor Yacht down in Long Beach Island. We where fortunate enough to be able to include the Carver in a trade with our offer so we didn t become a 2 boat owner again.

Now since Caryl has become a boating member she is on the boat every weekend with me. She is even one of my fishing partners. Now let me tell you the Department of Environmental Protection is glad to hear that. You see several years ago they where worried about the health status of the local fish population. Something about not enough food to support the fish population. Well since Caryl has started fishing there is plenty of food for them. She does a great job of feeding them. Don’t have to worry about catch and release with her.

We are proud members of the Penny Bridge Marina family and have had many a good time there. It is a small marina with some of the greatest owners and members in it. As I mentioned earlier we are always there on the weekends so stop by our slip and say hi. We always look forward to a good boaters chat.
