Azimut 80 to Premiere This Summer

It’s a bit of a drive from Avigliana, Italy to the seaside, but soon the Azimut 80 will be making the journey the way other Azimut yachts do, via truck. While not the largest Azimut megayacht model, the Azimut 80 is the largest one to be conceived and completed at that facility.

The Azimut 80 will premiere at the Azimut Benetti Yachting Gala in June, an event celebrating the 140th anniversary of Benetti and other significant milestones. In keeping with smaller and larger Azimut models, the Azimut 80 will emphasize swift speed: a reported maximum of 30 knots, powered by 1,550-hp MANs. She’ll also offer flexible arrangements to entice buyers, with the possibility of a pullman in a guest stateroom. Azimut is also reviewing adding a third crew berth fully aft.

For now, the renderings here give you an idea of the highlights of hull number one of the Azimut 80. The most notable feature in her profile: five large ports in the full-beam master suite below decks. Increasingly, megayacht builders are making oversize ports signature features, to let owners have more of a sense of indoor-outdoor living. There are other opening ports in the master suite as well as the four guest staterooms below decks. Still on the subject of ports, floor-to-ceiling glass flanks the dining area on the main deck.

Another standout feature is a flexible galley arrangement, which will no doubt appeal to American buyers. To the latter point, the rendering above reveals how it’s visible from the saloon-dining area, yet isn’t entirely exposed. Alternately, as the rendering below shows, the Azimut 80’s galley is fully enclosed. Either way, the megayacht situates the galley on the main deck, another item of importance to Americans.

Megayacht buyers will further be attracted to the Azimut 80 because of the large flying bridge. It comprises 452 square feet (42 square meters), with features you’d expect to find. There’s a helm, plenty of seating able to be configured according to your wishes, a barbecue, and space fully aft for a tender, sun lounges, and/or a hot tub. Furthermore, the hardtop can be fitted with a sliding center and an extendable awning aft.

The interior design of the first Azimut 80, by Achille Salvagni Architetti, incorporates light tones to be bright and airy. Bleached and greyed oak, offset by darker woodwork accents, adorns the walls. Grey leather is used throughout the staterooms. Speaking of light, LEDs are employed rather than traditional bulbs aboard the megayacht.

We’ll have a Megayacht News Onboard report later this summer.
